WHO WE ARE?

HLC/Life to the Max is a Category 1 PTE provider of high-quality vocational education and training programmes. We deliver focussed vocational programmes at NZQF Levels 1 – 4 to prepare students for employment or staircase graduates to higher educational qualifications.  Life to the Max is our social services arm, providing many forms of wrap around support if required and further helping youth and young adults reach their potential.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are looking for an enthusiastic qualified builder to join our Horowhenua campus.  The main focus of this role is to provide:

·        Effective, student-centred tuition to deliver our pre-trade carpentry, Level 3 programme and

·        Learners with the necessary practical skills and knowledge in carpentry and the building industry to apply for entry level employment in this sector as an apprentice or labourer.

This is a full time, permanent position.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • An industry recognised building/construction trades qualification

  • Relevant teaching qualification, or prepared to undertake this training

  • Strong administrative skills

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and reach goals or targets on time

  • Demonstrated ability to work within teams

  • High level of interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

  • Strong negotiation and facilitation skills

  • A focus on continuous improvement

  • An understanding of effectively supporting the needs of all adult learners, particularly Māori and Pasifika learners.

IT WOULD ALSO BE AN ADVANTAGE TO HAVE:

·        Experience in the NZQA / TEC education process, or a potential to understand and operate within this industry.

·        An NCALNE qualification, or prepared to undertake this training

·        Experience in the development and delivery of multi-mode programmes or courses

·        Full drivers’ licence
