Administration Officer

Horowhenua Learning Centre/Life to the Max

Horowhenua Learning Centre/Life to the Max (HLC/LTTM) requires an experienced, skilled and motivated administration officer with at least 3-5 years’ experience, to provide first rate administrative, office, and client support at our Levin campus.

Our Admin team is right at the heart of this, and we are looking for another team member who is keen to be part of our mission – could this be you?

About the role 

Reporting to the Team Leader Administration and working closely with the wider team, this role is all about excellent administration support, reporting, compliance, reception enquiries, and offering calming and practical client support, such as navigating Study Link with a new, prospective student.  You will need to be a self-starter, with a focus on people, and willing to get stuck in and help wherever needed. Shortlisted applicants will have: 

  • Years of experience in office administration, real time information management, reporting & compliance, as well as face to face client support

  • Proven ability to mix collaborative work with the demands of your own share of ongoing client database management and related tasks, like funder reporting requirements, and helping others learn to manage systems and data integrity

  • You will also be used to having a portfolio, which can include things like property and fleet management, site and security, and/or HSW management

  • Excellent customer service, event management, and problem-solving skills 

  • An eye for detail, high levels of accuracy, and calmness under pressure 

  • A cheerful, honest, can-do attitude, and absolute discretion

YOUTH MENTOR - ATTENDANCE

Life to the Max/Horowhenua Learning Centre

We are seeking a youth mentor who is passionate about inclusive education, and keen to support students aged 6 to 16 years, who are currently disengaged from school, to attend school regularly.
Are you a mentor who builds positive and effective relationships with young people?

Are you able to organise yourself, information, and online reporting, and work independently?

WHO WE ARE 

HLC/Life to the Max is a community organisation with a wide spectrum of social service, education and employment programmes. We work in partnerships, such as with students and their whānau to support Tamariki and Rangatahi to realise their full potential and create their future.  

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is in Attendance Services within our Social Services team (Life to the Max). Our Attendance Mentors predominantly work with schools to manage attendance with an aim to achieve a sustainable return to school for students who are currently disengaged, and enable solutions towards better engagement in education. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work with schools and manage a full caseload of referrals in a timely manner, connecting with students and whānau to create a back-to-school plan. 

  •  Liaise and refer effectively with key service providers and statutory agencies which collaborate to help create sustainable plans of re-engagement.  

  • Ensure timely and regular communication with schools on all referred students.   

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Previous experience working in partnership with young people /whānau  

  • Experience in implementing effective strengths-based interventions and supports for young people and their whānau 

  • Ability to apply theoretical concepts and professional knowledge to your day-to-day delivery and communications 

  • Knowledge of local networks, social support systems and local community resources is really important – and collaborating, to help build supports for Tamariki, Rangatahi and their whanau

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Computer literacy across Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience using data platforms such as client management systems is advantageous (but not required of computer-literate, fast learners)

  • Ability to work cross-culturally and communicate effectively with a broad range of people

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to tikanga Māori, te reo and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

 

A pre-employment police and safety check, including full vetting in accordance with Vulnerable Children requirements is required for this role – and  a current, full NZ driver’s licence is essential.

ADULT EDUCATION TRAINER

Are you a dynamic, passionate and resourceful tutor or trainer?  We require Adult Educators based in the Horowhenua region.

WHO WE ARE

We are a community trust which offers a wide range of social service, academic and employment programmes, partnering job seekers, students, clients and their whānau, in meeting their goals.  

ABOUT THE ROLE

As our work increases, we require more tutors/trainers for our workplace-based programmes. Primarily this is for our Workplace Literacy and Numeracy funded programmes but may also be for our Intensive Literacy programme.

Workplace programmes generally run for about 10-40 weeks delivering sessions of approximately 2-4 hours per week, per programme.  Programmes can be delivered on-site. Trainers can work as little as 2 hours per week or up to 20 hours depending on funding availability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • work to deliver on specifically scoped goals on bespoke workplace literacy and numeracy projects.

  • maintain accurate attendance records and compile administrative tasks as per HLC/LTTM policies and procedures.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • experience tutoring either in the workplace or at Levels 1 to 3 in a community or tertiary setting

  • to hold (or be working towards) the National or New Zealand Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education (NCALNE) OR an equivalent qualification

  • a passion for supporting people to build their knowledge and skills

  • have knowledge and confidence in tutoring in the areas of communication, English Language, leadership, H&S, digital (computing skills and software) and/or financial literacy

  •  

It would be beneficial if you:

  • have experience using the national literacy and numeracy for adults’ assessment tool (LNAAT)

  • hold 4098 or have had experience assessing with unit standards.

You will be competent in assisting clients with CV’s and Cover letters, interview skills and working beside them to overcome barriers to employment and other related skills. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Effective communication, administration and interpersonal skills including good computer literacy skills for record management.

  • Ability to network with local employers to build and maintain relationships and understand the local job market.

  • Excellent time management and able to prioritise workloads and meet targets on time.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to tikanga Māori, te reo and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Reporting to the Culture & Operations Manager and working closely with the wider team, this role is key to the development of confidence and positive engagement; across our work, and underpinning our people- and community-directed work and outcomes. You will need to be a people-person, patient, and inspirational, and have:

  • A high level of fluency in Te Reo Māori and Nga Tikanga Māori; and a proven record of developing other adults in this, (beginners through to advanced)

  • Strong iwi local connections

  • Ability to build positive relationships with iwi, and other cultural community groups

  • An in depth understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to educate others in its foundational importance for Aotearoa, and our life and work
